Park Moon-Baik

Hong Seong-Eong
Abstract
Radiation treatment results were analyzed in a retrospective analysis of 47 patients with pituitary adenoma treated with radiation alone or combined with surgery from 1974 through 1987 at the Department of Therapeutic Radiology of Kyung Hee University.
The 5-year overall survival rates for all patients was 80.4%.
Radiation therapy was effective for improving visual symptoms and headache, but could not normalize amenorrhea and galactorrhea. There was no difference of survival rate between radiation alone and combination with surgery.
Prognostic factors such as age, sex, disease type, visual field, headache and surgical treatment were statistically no significant in survival rates of these patients.
